The McKinney City Council approved the naming of McKinney’s newest park as Dr. Mack Hill Park, at the recommendation of the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Advisory Board. The 16-acre park is located next to Sonntag Elementary School, 1849 Reagan Dr. The park includes a playground, splash pad and covered pavilion.

Hill is a fifth generation McKinney resident and one of the first pediatricians in Collin County, operating a successful practice for more than 25 years. In 1993, Hill was named Citizen of the Year by the McKinney Chamber of Commerce and in 2007 received the Quality of Life award by the McKinney Community Development Corporation. Hill has lived most of his 93 years in McKinney, except for his time served in the United States Navy.

“Dr. Hill has been the family pediatrician for many of the children raised in McKinney, including myself. He’s known for making house calls, for never turning anyone away, and actively serving the community in and out of the medical office,” said Ryan Mullins, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation. “This neighborhood park is a special way to show recognition and appreciation for his dedication to McKinney and its youth.”
