Prosper High School student Lauren LaChausse won first place in the 2016 Congressional Art Competition titled “An Artistic Discovery.”

Competition winners were recently announced at an art exhibit and awards ceremony hosted at the McKinney Performing Arts Center by Congressman Sam Johnson, who represents the third district of Texas.

More than 100 student artists from Collin County submitted artwork to the competition.

LaChausse’s painting, “South Texas Oranges,” will be displayed in the United States Capitol building for one year. The teen will attend the national 2016 Congressional Art Competition unveiling ceremony in June.
