On Saturday, Oct. 10, members of the Melissa High School Choral Department participated in the Region 25 High School Choir auditions.
Melissa had a successful showing as 10 students were selected into the choir, including Hayley Hurst, Molly Kennedy, James Killingsworth, Kealey Poole, Hannah Rossell, Andrew Solis, Hunter Swicegood, Aaron Vaughan, Mackenzie Warren and Rachel Wresh.
Additionally, MHS took first chair in all eight voice parts auditioned at the contest. Students competed in the Small School Choir against area schools, such as Celina, Pottsboro, Princeton and Farmersville.
The choir is set to participate in the Region 25 High School Choir Concert on Oct. 31 at Allen High School. Students will later move on to compete at an Area audition in January to be selected into membership in the 2016 All-State Choir.
The Melissa High School Choir program is under the direction of Theresa Killingsworth.
