Maps Drawn, Dates Set

March 2, 2012

By Bryce Greene

A federal three-judge panel on Thursday issued an order setting May 29 for state primary elections and related dates for administering the elections. The immediate impact of this order is another week for new candidates to file for a place on the ballot beginning today, March 2, at 9 AM. Other important dates are as follows:

April 30-May 8: Early voting for city and school board elections.

May 12: City and school board elections.

May 14-25: Early voting for state and federal primaries.

May 29: State and federal primary day.

The order also finalized the interim maps that designate state House, state Senate, and federal Congressional districts. The 70th House District is larger than what was shown in previous maps, but very close to how the legislature drew it in the first place.

Scott needs your help to keep up the pace for another 90 days in a larger district. Here’s how you can help:

Pray for stamina and health. In addition to his church responsibilities, Scott attends 6-8 meetings or events each week.

Volunteer to walk your neighborhood starting the week of April 1. We will provide lists and information to help you walk your neighborhood.

Donate in the months of March, April and May. We need more signs, push cards, and postage to communicate with voters in the larger district. You can donate on the “DONATE” tab or button on Scott’s website.

With Thursday’s court order, the race to the finish is on! Help Scott finish strong!
