McKINNEY, Texas (Nov. 10, 2015) – Historic Downtown McKinney will serve as a drop-off location for WFAA Channel 8 Santa’s Helpers Toy Drive from 5—10:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 7 on Kentucky Street next to the McKinney Performing Arts Center. Santa’s Helpers collects new, unwrapped toys for more than 50,000 needy children age infant through teen in each of the four Dallas-Fort Worth counties: Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton. McKinney is the designated Collin County drop-off, and approved community service organizations, including the Salvation Army of McKinney, the Assistance Center of Collin County and Frisco Family Services, will distribute toys collected in McKinney to recipients in Collin County.

Residents, schools, churches, service organizations and businesses are encouraged to collect toys and decorate their vehicles to come through the drive-thru line on Dec. 7. Media personalities will be on hand and live broadcasts will be shown on WFAA Channel 8 during the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts.

“One of my favorite attributes of our city is the generosity of our citizens,” said Mayor Brian Loughmiller. “We are proud to serve as a host for this worthy cause and look forward to making Christmas a little bit merrier for the children in our county.”

The 2015 Santa’s Helpers campaign is sponsored by Chick-fil-A, Don Davis Auto Group, Milestone Electric and Tom Thumb. For more information on WFAA Channel 8 Santa’s Helpers Toy Drive,
