McKINNEY, Texas (Nov. 9, 2015) – McKinney Main Street celebrates the beginning of the holiday season during Thanksgiving weekend with Home for the Holidays…a McKinney Christmas. Historic downtown will transform into a winter wonderland of shopping, entertainment, activities and food.


From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27 and Saturday, Nov. 28, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, Home for the Holidays is the perfect place to kick off the holiday season. On Friday, downtown gets an extra dose of holiday cheer at 6:15 p.m. when the city lights a 30-foot pine tree that will adorn the city’s square. The tree was funded by First United Bank and the contributions from families and businesses during theMcKinney Christmas Tree – A Gift to the Community fundraising campaign. It will serve as a beautiful backdrop for holiday photos and be a sight for the entire family to enjoy. Following the tree lighting, visitors can enjoy candlelight shopping downtown until 8 p.m.


Holiday shopping at the more than 120 locally-owned stores and boutiques are the best destination for Black Friday and to support local businesses on Small Business Saturday. Take a break from shopping with popular Home for the Holidays attractions and activities like visits with Santa, a snow tubing hill, live performances of A Christmas Carol at the McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC) and a petting zoo.


“Black Friday shopping in downtown McKinney will be special for shoppers looking for a break from the holiday rush.
