Anna Fire Marshall James Dockray and a team of firefighters paid students at the Early Childhood Center and Bryant Elementary School a visit during Fire Prevention Week.

During the presentations in the library, students watched fire safety videos and took part in activities that included demonstrations of crawling under the bad smoke “stop, drop and roll, get low and go,” and how to feel a door for heat with the back of the hand. Students were reminded to have exit drills at home, always have two ways out and have a designated safe meeting place outside the home.

And, of course, the big red fire engines were on display with all the tools and a separate display of all the bunker gear firefighters use.

The programs were coordinated by Librarian Greta Adams with funds for the instructional material awarded by the Anna ISD Education Foundation Grant.
