On February 23, the Greater Anna Area Chamber of Commerce held their Eleventh Annual Awards Banquet. Every year, the chamber recognizes the heavy hitters of the community by hosting a banquet filled with food, laughter, socializing and awards. This year was no different.
The theme for the ceremony was “Celebrating our members,” and that is exactly what they did. The chamber presented 11 different awards. The chamber awarded Volunteer of the Year, Educator of the Year, Business of the Year, Community Partner, Business Person of the Year, New Business of the Year, Citizens Award, Innovation Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Ambassador of the Year, and Board Member of the Year.
Gary Hughes was bestowed the Lifetime Achievement Award. Hughes received the prestigious award because he is an integral part of the Anna community. He has been a part of the Anna Area Historical Preservation Society for many years. Hughes was instrumental in various Anna events such as various historical markers, and the Collin McKinney luncheon.
James “Doc” Dockray is the Anna Fire Marshall and also the recipient of the Citizens Award. He said the award is more than just a prestigious title. “I am so honored to have been chosen for the Citizens Award,” Dockray said. “I am even more venerated to be listed alongside the other candidates. Anna has some pretty amazing citizens.”
Tiffany Terry was voted Board Member of the Year. She said the term excitement does not quite describe how she felt being named Board Member of the Year. “I was beyond excited to win such an honor,” Terry said. “I love our Anna Chamber and being able to represent this great city is a blessing.”
The other winners were Susan Jones for Volunteer of the Year, Cindy Lewis for Educator of the Year, and Warrior Tire for Business of the Year.
Anna Family Pharmacy was named Community Partner, Kari Heatherly received two awards; Business Person of the Year, and Ambassador of the Year, and Texas Embroidery Ranch was New Business of the Year. The Anna Police Department received the Innovation Award.
Kevin Hall, the Executive Director of the Greater Anna Chamber of Commerce said the night was one for the history books. “We had a wonderful time celebrating our Greater Anna Chamber members and volunteers during our Eleventh Annual Awards Banquet.”
“This evening is a chance for us to mingle together with our members over a delicious catered meal, award our many dedicated volunteers for their service and for our members to meet our Board of Directors and Ambassadors,” Hall added. “We thank everyone who attended, donated prizes and invested in our Banquet including our Presenting Investor the City of Anna Community Development Corporation, Platinum – Texas Star Bank and Gold – Skorburg Company and Windsor Homes.”
